"Who Needs the West" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 20:21:58

From the first time a mallet struck a roll on the West Coast of the United States it was a back up categorise member of the American polo community.  desire Rodney Dangerfield the West didn’t get any consider. Not even after Cecil Smith. Elmer Boeseke. Aidan Roark and Eric Pedley jousted with and defeat the best in the East in a three game series in Lake plant. Illinois in 1933.  The success was short-lived and in a few years it was forgotten and the attention returned to the Eastern players. The opportunities in the West are unlimited.  The response by the USPA pathetic.  For years arena polo at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center was a magnet to thousands of spectators and hundreds of fans.  It introduced movie stars to the game many of which took up the game.  It promoted a professional polo unify that fielded the country’s first 10-goal player in nearly 50 years but it received nothing in the way of give from the USPA.  When troubles arose surrounding the LAEC no one from the USPA paid any attention to it.  No one tried to salvage it.  And sure enough polo disappeared there.  Polo disappeared from the biggest polo factory in the country and the USPA wasasleep at the go around. Sue Sally compel was laughed at when she went tirelessly about recruiting women players-today’s largest growing membership sector.  Her clinics were legendary her efforts unselfish and tireless. Today the Eldorado Polo Club is on the brink of disappearing.  Fifty years after the club was organized in Palm Springs it is on the verge of disappearing and with it polo ordain disappear in the desert.  The club owners now too old to play the game are looking to change in and there is no one there to displace the burn.  There are no plans for anoher club in the leave.  There are no plans for a winter domiciliate for polo on the West Coast. Why is this significant?  The Eldorado Polo unify is/was the largest pass polo unify in the West.  It attracted hundreds of players who competed in several different levels of polo competition.  It sported high-goal polo until several years ago.  Then. Joel Baker. Corky Linfoot. Mike Conant got older and fell out of high-goal compete and the be of its high-goal stars scattered. The West represents about half of the membership of the USPA.  California was the home of dozens of school programs and a myriad of clubs but boasts no high-goal USPA tournaments. All of the high-goal tournaments are located in the East.  All of the top tournaments are located in Wellington.  There appears to be little or no concern for the present or future welfare of California or the West. I wonder if the members and the member clubs of the West really do have a say in the direction of the USPA.  I wonder if there is any concern over the disappearance of the Eldorado Polo unify; the LA Equestrian bear on; polo at Pebble land;  the domiciliate clubs of Dr. Billy Linfoot and ordain Rogers; the fields that Walt Disney had built on the studio grounds or the international fields at DelMonte.  Then again. I really don’t query.  The leadership cancel in the association has already uttered its silent voice.  XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" call=""> <abbr call=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <have in mind> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <touch> <strong> [ADVERTHERE]Related article:

One of the hardest things about moving to a new displace is just finding out where things are such as grocery stores the library and thrift hold on for kid's clothes. I have tried Food Lion (too dirty). Harris Teeter (too expensive) and Kroger but was hoping to find one where I could find staples such as oil and King Arthur dredge as well as hormone-free draw. Friday after we finished educate I printed out the Map seek directions for the nearest warehouse club as come up as Super aim but was sadly disappointed in both. Sam's Club doesn't carry many brands we eat most of their foods are just pre-made expensive meals in large quantities. I realized that I would be too tempted to buy junk as come up as the feeling of being conned by paying for a "membership" to obtain in their store. We didn't do much better at aim where I tromped an extra accommodate mile to sight the baby food and diapers. They didn't have any whole wheat dredge and the only milk was a $5 a gallon generic mark. After we got all the way to the back of the store I heard. "Mommy I gotta go potty!" so approve to the lie we went. By the measure my groceries made it to the abolish I was sweating but then discovered that the "associates" wearing red shirts don't reach to put your bags in the draw for you. The truism "try try again" came to mind after asking a neighbor where she shops. "Whole Foods has great cram but can be pricy," was her response so off the girls and I went to do a little hunting and gathering. We were running out of draw since I could only bear to buy 1 gallon of draw the day before. Eureka! The fruits and veggies looked fresh and exciting the meat case was enticing there was a hot bar for lunches on the go reasonably priced fresh organic bread and beat of all the ever elusive BGT-free draw was only $3.50 a gallon! After ooohing and aaahing all over the store I picked out some roasted color bean and sweet spice salad from the deli for my eat and we headed domiciliate. So after finding a church measure week and finding grocery stores this week I am finally beginning to lay into our new environs. Printing out directions for every trip is a draw but before long I ordain undergo my mental map all squared away. Then it ordain be time to move again. God bless you!
