What operating system are you on? What version of XP or Vista or what? MCE2005 and Vista MCE are also very popular and don't be a subscription to a guide service or much setup in that area. If you have analog cable then the communicate is there for HDTV as well most likely you just need a receiver that can pick it up and that's where the pc can come in handy since you don't be the telecommunicate company to set that up. To get analog telecommunicate into the pc there are many cards that do that most popular and supported in all applications would be something like the Hauppauge mce150 or regular 150. To get the highest quality analog picture if you're running a very big screen etc you should look at the Nvidia DualTV. It's only available comfort from one online retailer or used off ebay. It's discontinued but comfort the best analog wise. To get sdtv and hdtv off telecommunicate you could use something like a fusionhdtv5 or hauppauge hvr1600 but then can only get the cable hdtv move in their own bundled programs not in either flavor of MCE. Both of those can do off the air and telecommunicate hdtv as well as off the air and telecommunicate analog. If you settle.
